Job Summary
The Obesity Medicine Liaison plays a critical role in supporting the growth, coordination, and excellence of a comprehensive obesity medicine program. This individual serves as a bridge between medical weight management, bariatric surgery services, referring providers, and patients. Under general supervision, this role combines administrative coordination, patient support and strategic outreach to enhance both patient outcomes and program development.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
Manage and coordinate prior authorizations for anti-obesity medications and related therapies
Support workflow optimization with the obesity medicine clinic
Assist patients in navigating treatment options, including pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery
Serve as a point of contact for patients enrolled in medical and surgical weight loss
Act as a key liaison between obesity medicine providers, bariatric surgeons and surgical teams, primary care provider and specialists
Identify opportunities for program growth, partnerships, and service expansion
Assist leadership in tracking program outcomes and identifying areas for improvement. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to obesity care delivery
Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned
Job Specifications (Minimum Requirements)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiarity with anti-obesity medications and obesity treatment guidelines
Experience coordinating care between medical and surgical programs
Background in healthcare marketing, outreach or business development
Experience with EMR systems and data tracking/reporting
Education
High School Diploma/GED is Required
Associate’s Degree in Business or Healthcare is Preferred
Experience
3 years in Healthcare/Medical-Physician’s Office is Required
Certifications and Licensures
Certified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation is Required
Certified Medical Assistant- Must be obtained within 6 months of hire Required
