The Lead Cardiology Technician oversees the daily operations of the cardiology technicians within the cardiac diagnostics team. The lead performs cardiac diagnostic tests including EKGs, Holter monitoring and stress testing. This position ensures high-quality patient care, adherence to clinical protocols and collaborates closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
Supervise cardiology technicians and ensure efficient workflow.
Prepare and coordinate staff schedules. Ensure adequate coverage. Rotate staff for lunch breaks.
Provide mentorship and training to staff and students (when applicable). Perform needed competencies.
Serve as a liaison between technicians, physicians and department leadership.
Responsible for working departmental work queues and reviewing departmental charges within the hospital’s electronic health record system.
Key point of contact for monitoring companies, as well as resolving monitoring issues should they arise.
Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be a knowledgeable and experienced cardiology or EKG technician.
Participate in continuing education programs and department meetings, as well as assist the manager in meeting content.
Must have integrity, compassion, confidentiality and professionalism.
Self-motivation incorporated into a strong spirit of teamwork is required.
Education
High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in general studies is Required.
Experience
5 years of Cardiology experience is Required.
Certifications and Licensures
Certification as a Cardiologic or EKG Technician is Required.
Certified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation is Required.
Annual Mandatory Competencies
General Radiation Safety is required.
