Overview

Responsible for the overall benefits administration of all employee benefit programs for the Methodist Hospitals. Key responsibilities include analyzing benefit costs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and creating communication materials to educate employees. The Sr. Benefit Analyst will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, help plan and administer essential functions, such as organizing training, administering employee benefits and leaves, and crafting HR policies. Using HR Systems, this role will ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. Facilitate the employee leave process, working with the third-party administrator to ensure employee leave requests are processed promptly, STD is paid timely, and Employee Relations is involved at necessary points when leaves are exhausted.

  2. Assist in development and implementation of Human Resource policies and programs.

  3. Analyze and audit benefit data to track costs, identify trends, and create reports.

  4. Ensure all benefit plans comply with federal and state regulations and legislation.
  5. Serves as a resource and contact person by assisting employees at all levels in the organization with benefit requests, answers questions and resolves issues.
  6. Assists with monthly benefit funding, billing, benefits accounting, and reconciliation.
  7. Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics.
  8. Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills,  and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of benefit regulations and compliance standards

  • Proficiency in benefit administration software and HRIS Systems

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new policies, procedures, and systems.

  • Ability to create clear and effective written and verbal materials.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in Human Resources (or closely related field) required – will consider direct experience in lieu of education.
  • 5 years Benefit Analaysis experience required.
  • Experience supporting benefits in a high volume, mid-size organization required.
  • Experience maintaining benefits information in the HRIS system required.
  • Experience in benefit plan reviews, analysis and recommendations required.
  • PHR/SPHR Certification preferred.
