Overview

Under direction, to perform work involving the supervision and leadership of the Security Services staff by supervising and maintaining the operation of the assigned campus or location in a safe and secure manner.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)


  1. Assists customers in a pleasant manner in compliance with routine security procedures, hospital policies and guidelines.

  2. Prepares and posts two weeks prior to the first of the month, monthly work schedule for the staff at the campus assigned.

  3. Prepares and submits to monthly statistical reports, an annual report and daily incident reports regarding occurrences at assigned campuses and locations.

  4. Reports daily or as required any violations of security practices by customers, employees or security staff or any down time.

  5. Enters schedules, hours worked and non-productive paid time off through the time and attendance system for assigned employees.

  6. Evaluates staff, recommends hires, disciplinary actions and fires for respective campuses or locations.

  7. Performs routine investigations of any incidents that could be considered safety, security, workplace violence, or unusual in scope or content at both campuses and all off-sites.

  8. Provides Security/Patient Information to customers and patients as needed.

  9. Conducts monthly staff meetings and prepares minutes.

  10. Maintains open lines of communication with community, civic leaders and the administrators of the local law enforcement agencies.

  11. Stays abreast with current techniques.

  12. Purchases uniforms for the Security staff and necessary equipment for day-to-day operation, and ensures all electronic equipment is working.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Working knowledge of computers, payroll procedures, of preparing annual performance evaluations and properly evaluating staff.
  • Must develop and maintain rapport with all levels of customers.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains excellent decorum and communications with all managers throughout the hospital.
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be consistent, objective and fair with all staff. Positive attitude, able to handle employee behaviors, resolve any staffing issues, scheduling problems and remain calm.
  • Ability to prepare a schedule, reports, conduct investigations, and to make decisions.

EDUCATION
  • A Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Bachelors Criminal Justice Preferred
  • Bachelors Social Sciences Preferred
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in a Healthcare setting is required, preferably in a security setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience is desirable.
  • 3 Security Required
