Overview

The positon requires coordination phlebotomy workflow in an effective manner by making real time necessary adjustments to meet customer’s needs. It provides the phlebotomist a resource to resource issue and brings efficiency to the department.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions)

  1. Performs Phlebotomy & processes laboratory tests, as required, following approved protocols. 
  2. Coordinate all front office functions, including addressing customer’s needs organizing workflow, making adjustments to assignments & Inventory Management. 
  3. Serves as a phlebotomy resource to clarify ordering & specimen’s issues. 
  4. Oversees training of new employees & clinical students in a meaningful, effective manner. 
  5. Managers & processes MethCare Outreach specimens in a timely fashion. Resolves problems related to specimens, orders & supplies. Resolve issues related to MEL accounts. 
  6. Works with LIS analyst to resolve any IS/IT related issues including Fax transmissions. 
  7. Strictly adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, HIPAA Guidelines and AIDET Expectations. 
  8. Interacts effectively with Physicians, Patients and other Support Services. Responds to customer’s concerns and comfort positively.   Answers phone calls promptly and professionally.
  9. Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • General knowledge of Phlebotomy procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated oral & written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Energetic, self-motivated & driven.
  • Ability to provide compassionate patient care orientation

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma in general education is required.
  • Successful completion of a Phlebotomy Program from an approved institute.
  • Five years minimum of working as a phlebotomist in a hospital environment.
  • PBT (ASCP) or Equivalent within two years of hire.
