Overview

This position serves as support for the Decision Support department for financial operations improvement, monthly analysis, and supporting ongoing operational departmental efforts.  As part of a team, position is responsible for supporting the annual operating and capital budgets, monthly financial performance analysis, ongoing departmental operational efforts, and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. Provides support to the Decision Support departmental operational efforts. Works with Accounting and Decision Support staff on daily, monthly and annual departmental efforts.

  2. Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support as needed.  Provides support in the monitoring and calculation of various financial, operational, and budgetary activities, including but not limited to patient accounting, physicians, and associated vendor contracts.

  3. Serves as a financial liaison to the Hospital and Provider department leaders. Provides education and training as needed as part of the monthly review of the financial and operational performance of the Hospital. Assist in the preparation of budgets.

  4. Assists with any required financial reporting, financial close, and reconciliations documents needed to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and presentation as required.

  5. Assists with accumulation, preparation, and reviewing of data for internal and external benchmarking, surveys, and ad hoc reporting. 

  6. Performs all other duties as requested.  Individual assignments may exist within the team or as part of inter-departmental teams.

Job Specifications (Minimum Requirements)

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, and vlookups, required.
  • Knowledge of Strata Axiom software and Infor, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability analyze technical and financial data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all stakeholders.
  • Must have outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.

Education

All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University. Other majors or courses of study will be considered as meeting these requirements, as long as they are closely related to the essential functions of the position.  Additional education or experience may be substituted requirements on a year for year basis should the substitution not conflict with State or Board certification/license requirements.

 

Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business is Required.

 

Experience

Other types of work experience will be considered as meeting these experience requirements, as long as they are closely related to the essential functions of the position.

 

2 years of Accounting/Finance experience is Required.

2 years of Healthcare/Medical – Business experience is Preferred.
