Overview

Ensures the day-to-day administrative duties of pathology sections are handled in a professional way. Works closely with the pathologists to ensure the clerical support services are met in an efficient way, and the surgical and cyto-pathology reports are delivered according to the established protocol.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)


  1. Assists in maintaining the operation of the anatomical pathology information system.

  2. Collects and monitors the quality assurance data, in cooperation with the Division Chief.

  3. Develops and reviews transcription policies.

  4. Ensures the transcription and charting of all pathology reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

  5. Ensures billing information for professional services are processed in a timely manner.

  6. Prepares and posts department schedules in a timely manner.

  7. Processes the sending out of cases to Reference Laboratories, as requested by Pathologists, Clinicians and/or Patients.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide compassionate patient care orientation.

EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
  • 4 Clinical Information System Required
