Overview

Under direction, to perform work developing, analyzing, maintaining and implementing the Epic EMR system software within the Healthcare Organization.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

  1. Analyze and prioritize requests for system changes/enhancements, including requirements gathering.  Identify potential problem areas and recommend processes and/or system improvements.
  2. Assures proper change control and documentation for upgrades and system modifications.  This includes documentation of actions in release notes and coordination with other teams as necessary.
  3. Effectively works as a team member to ensure quality of integration across system applications. This includes working with vendors/third party entities that need to be integrated with the Epic product.
  4. Ensure programs and related components are continuously reliable, available and function as required.
  5. Investigate user problems and needs, identify their source, determine/implement solutions and document resolutions for future reference.  This includes working on multiple-disciplinary teams to develop solutions.
  6. Document system and business requirements.  Create test plans and scripts for system and user acceptance testing.  Assist with and document the development of new operational procedures.
  7. Participate in the development, implementation and testing of application software, specifically those that interact with the Epic system.
  8. Provide guidance and support for ongoing training.  Participate in the development and implementation of training materials.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of hardware and software applications.
  • Participate in development; implementation and testing of application software, specifically those associated or that interact with the Epic EMR.
  • Participate in the development; implementation and testing of application software, specifically the Epic modules.
  • Must be highly motivated and exhibit the interpersonal skills necessary to achieve results through coordinating efforts with others in a collaborative manner.  Team player with all applications with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Ability to mentor, trains, and teach others.
  • Must be able to deal with stressful situations effectively.
  • Demonstrates courteous, kind, caring, and compassionate behavior and projects a positive attitude to support organization.

EDUCATION

All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University.  Additional education or experience may be substituted requirements on a year for year basis should the substitution not conflict with State or Board certification/license requirements.  

  • Associates degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field Preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year experience in Healthcare Informatics preferred.
  • Prior experience or proficiency with EPIC application software is preferred.
  • Must achieve EPIC proficiency within the first six (6) months of hire date.
