Overview

The Director position is responsible for the overall strategy, staffing, operations, customer experience, and quality and physician relations of both Oncology and Radiation Departments. Working under the direction of the VP of Operations the Director will ensure excellent patient services with the best available equipment and qualified staff in complete accordance with all regulatory oversite. The Director will operate within the strategy developed and finance and capital plan for both Oncology and Radiation. The Director will also look for synergy and efficiencies in both areas of service.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)

  1. Hire, promote and supervise the Managers of both service areas to meet the needs of our patients and physicians we serve and in accordance to our budget. *
  2. Develop overall strategy and policies that effectively promote these service areas to achieve the best customer service and quality outcomes. *
  3. Ensure we are in regulatory compliance with JCAHO, ISBOH and all other accreditation agencies and to ensure a safe experience for our patients and staff. *
  4. Develop a cost effective operating budget and capital budget yearly to meet the objectives of these service areas. *
  5. The Director will develop strong physician relationships with their Medical Directors and all physicians who practice in Oncology and Radiation. *
  6. This position will also work in cooperation with Marketing on a strategy to attract the patients we wish to serve and actively promote our services to the community.
  7. On a yearly basis the Director will develop and achieve a Quality Improvement Plan for these service areas to continually improve the service to our patients. *
  8. The Director will work to enhance the overall engagement of staff to achieve our objectives and develop a culture where staff are encouraged to be active in our customer service and quality initiatives.
  9. On a yearly basis the Director will promote the services to our community during Cancer awareness month and promote our efforts of charity in the community.
  10. Continue to research the latest technology and process improvements in the literature and suggest to the VP, Operations new enhancements.
  11. Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
EDUCATION

  • Demonstrates ability to work closely with physicians in program development.
  • Demonstrates competency in financial management and leadership in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and experience in oncology services.
  • Develops and implements strategies to enhance the market and financial position of oncology service line.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of the medical staff.

Education

All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University.  Additional education or experience may be substituted requirements on a year for year basis should the substitution not conflict with State or Board certification/license requirements.
